Synopsis
Pocky is a Japanese biscuit stick dipped in chocolate, built entirely around the ritual of sharing. Its advertising speaks in pastels and soft gestures — gentle, considered, and completely without edge. Desi Dubbed asked one question: what happens when Indian ads get their hands on it?
The Problem
Brain rot is everywhere right now. But most of it evaporates the moment you scroll past it. Indian ads from the 80s and 90s were the original brain rot — unhinged, gimmicky, phonetically sticky — except they never disappeared. "Khich khich." "Ae du kya." "Daag achhe hain." These phrases lived in your body for thirty years without you trying. Current reels are loud but forgettable. Old Indian ads were chaotic and permanent. Desi Dubbed exists to bring that unhinged energy into the scroll era — one American consumer good at a time.
The Thinking
Pocky and Poppins share the same ritual. Both are made for sharing. But where Pocky offers, Poppins threatens. I combined Poppins' advertising energy with Pocky's product, used kinetic Hindi typography to make the collision visible, and landed on one line that could only exist because these two worlds met:
- Let's teach Pocky some tough love.
